'...P&TP have built quite a reputation through insessant gigging over the last 12 months, and this debut single - harmonized indie-punk through a cracked psych filter- will be unavoidable. It's not the most sophisticated sound, perhaps, but its played with conviction and, most importantly, an ear for a tune.'

'come on feet' is the debut stolen recordings single from the forthcoming debut full length album recorded with gareth parton (the killers, the go! team, the futureheads). bright, young commanders of a brand of unique englishness, pete and the pirates blend of smooth edged punk and pop produces music which is sweet, raw, joyous, melancholic, raucous and tender. the pirates idiosyncratic and endearing song writing puts them somewhere between the flying nun band tall dwarfs, clap your hands say yeah and the wistful reflection of 'on the beach' era neil young. limited two track 7".

Reading's Pete & The Pirates deal in the kind of melodic, wistful and whimsical indie-pop which, like some kind of wistful and whimsical (if not exactly melodic) cockroach, would survive even the darkest nuclear winter. Fashions come and go, musical revolutions break forth and recede, but the worldwide appetite for affable chaps packing affable tunes is, and will no doubt remain, utterly without cease. Thank christ, then, that the Pirates' new single 'Come on Feet' is an eminently hummable, lo-fi pop gem rambunctious and fragrant enough to melt even FACT's stony, stony heart. -FACT

Pete and The Pirates have a cracking 7" out this week called Come On Feet. I've not really heard much by these folks before so I had no idea what to expect. It's a great little single... Very wistful and tuneful and kind of rousing. There's a bit of 60's pop in there played with a slight off kilter New Zealand twang. Nice raucous guitars which towards the end sound like Pixies.... in fact there's a bit of Frank Black in there somewhere. All kinds of influences which make a tasty pie of fun-dom. Muchly recommended!!

At last a single from the vastly underrated London/Reading quintet, who have previously entertained us muchly at SoundsXP Towers with a pair of neatly packaged mini-albums, one of which featured a demo version of this. And it’s a good un. What the fairly relentless riff may lack in variety is made up for by the presence of strident percussion, layered vocals and crisp handclaps and the overall effect is uplifting and chirpy in the mould of Tapes n Tapes. On the flip, B-side Humming is pleasant but more subdued, a shimmering low key slice of folk.

Debut single Come on Feet' is all chopping guitars - thrashing and wailing behind handclaps and steam engine drums. These form the backdrop for two and half minutes of melodic, pop brilliance.
